I own a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 2.5l and yesterday while driving home I shifted and noticed that the throttle had begun idling at approx. 2200 rpm’s (normal 800) I went to pull over and the brake pedal was stiff as a board. (recently had a brake overhaul and have had no issues since/nothing i can notice that would cause that so im assuming its related with the throttle issue) Upon stopping i immediately noticed under the hood that the throttle return spring had snapped. I got the vehicle home safely and today bought a universal return spring. I noticed in some pictures and statements online that there should be a small hole for the anchor point of the spring but it appears my jeep does not have one, i was able to anchor the spring how i recalled it being previously positioned. However, when i started the jeep i still had the high throttle issue. Any information on how to troubleshoot and fix this? My next guess would be the throttle position sensor, but i’d like to know if there is a way to find out exactly what the cause is without systematically replacing parts. Still a bit confused as to why this throttle issue would cause the brakes to act the way they are.

The car fax show that the dealership bought it from an auction and I’m assuming that was the price that they paid. That’s 9,100 difference. What price would you offer and what would you say. Also my dad is a mechanic so he would check it out before anything were to happen, thanks!
